In part 1 of this 4 part series, you will gain a strong foothold by learning the basics of Individual Retirement Accounts. It will include a short review of the most common terminology and which forms are “required by law” to give to our customers and also retain in the financial institution’s records.

We will then discuss the qualifications for each type of retirement products, including the Traditional IRA, Roth IRA, Conversion Roth IRA, and SEP IRA. The purpose of this session is to build your comfort level with IRAs. It is also a great refresher for those with more experience.

What You'll Learn

  • What is the difference between an IRA Plan and an IRA Account?
  • What forms are required to establish a legal IRA and which forms are supplemental?
  • What are the benefits of a Traditional IRA and when can the contribution be deductible?
  • Why would many people choose a Roth IRA over a Traditional IRA?
  • Who can make contributions to a SEP IRA and how are they reported to the IRS?
  • Why is it so important to use the correct transaction description for IRA activity?

Who Should Attend

This level is recommended for IRA rookies who have 0-3 years of experience and wish a slower pace of learning to grasp the basics of IRAs. It is also a helpful tool for those who have previous experience with IRAs but may not be familiar with the latest changes.
